About Me

Hi, I'm Kerry!

I'm a Behaviour Specialist with extensive experience in assessing and managing behavioural issues and developmental delays with both children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related disorders.

I have 20 years experience working in various settings such as a multi-disciplinary diagnostic team, an early intervention team, a speech therapy team, in supported living accommodation, with children and adults, parents and extended family carrying out home-based therapeutic one to one services and working in homes, schools, pre-schools, daycares and community settings - providing training workshops for parents, teachers, educators, care staff and the wider community.

I have had the privilege of working with hundreds of children and their families through the assessment and diagnosis process, early intervention, intensive intervention, deciding about the best preschool, school and therapy for their child. I have gotten to know parents who would do anything to help their child develop or speak or communicate or make eye contact or be more affectionate.

I have also had the absolute pleasure of witnessing so many inspiring moments with parents and their children – when a child says their first words, when a child who cannot talk, communicates using a device, the first time a child makes meaningful eye contact with their parents and the first time a child and their parent enjoy playing together.

The determination, perseverance and continuous love these parents have for their children has been my inspiration. I aim to use any academic and practical knowledge to assist children and families on their journey in any way I can. I feel so grateful that I get to do the work I love and to have met so many wonderful and inspiring children and parents through all my years work.

I have worked with hundreds of individuals, families and professionals across Ireland, Holland, The UK, New Zealand, The Cook Islands and Australia. I aim to use what I have learned through my academic and practical experience to educate, empower and inspire parents, carers, grandparents, educators, siblings, peers, support workers and the community in general with the knowledge, information and strategies they need to improve quality of life for people they care for.

I believe that by increasing awareness and understanding and by taking positive action, people can live a more independent, fulfilling and happy life, whatever their ability.

I am also a mother and understand that interventions need to be implemented at a pace that suits not just the child but also the family as a whole. The interventions I recommend are evidence based, individually tailored and match the capacity, culture and dynamics for any family I work with.
